Video Production for Istituto Marangoni London
The project: creative video production and editing
Istituto Marangoni’s annual student fashion competition is a highlight of their calendar and a chance to showcase emerging designers and celebrate new creative voices. As a long-standing production partner, we’ve supported the competition for multiple years, and with each year we’ve been able to push the creative further thanks to a strong relationship built on trust and collaboration.
The aim of the video series was to build online engagement and excitement throughout the lead up to the winner announcement, providing audiences with weekly content to build anticipation. A new video was released each week over the course of 2 months, focusing on on a different designer and their story. We worked closely with the client throughout the editing process to ensure their feedback was completed within the timeframe required to release each video on schedule.
The deliverables included:
Intro montage video
The first output was a montage video of all the finalists, using artistic visuals and b-roll to create a stylised introduction to all of the designers.
“What’s in my bag?” montage
The second piece took a more lighthearted approach, with each finalist sharing what they’d be bringing to Paris Fashion Week. It offered a glimpse into their personalities, giving audiences a chance to get to know the designers ahead of their full interviews, whilst keeping things playful and engaging and still staying on theme.
10 finalist interviews
The full interview outputs combined sit-down conversations with b-roll of the students at work, highlighting both their creative process and individual styles.
Visually, we wanted the interview set up to have a contemporary aesthetic and feel fashion-led without being overly stylised, and maintaining on-brand. The lighting had a clean, editorial feel, using a soft, directional key light from one side to create gentle contrast and natural skin tones. Minimal fill kept shadows controlled without flattening the image, while a subtle backlight added separation from the background. A soft gradient behind the subject enhances depth, resulting in a polished, fashion-led look that feels refined without being overly stylised.
The result
The final outputs gave Istituto Marangoni a rich set of assets to tell the story of their student competition in fresh, engaging ways. Each finalist’s interview film combined personal storytelling with behind-the-scenes footage of their creative process, offering a genuine insight into their design approach. The “What’s in my bag?” feature added a lighter, playful touch, while the opening montage video set the tone with a stylish, editorial feel. Together, these videos formed a cohesive campaign that celebrated the finalists individually while positioning the competition as a high-profile, creative showcase. By releasing one finalist film each week, the campaign maintained momentum and audience engagement over a 10-week period, building excitement in the run-up to Fashion Week. With multiple versions cut for different social channels and formats, the content was able to reach audiences across platforms and extend the project’s impact far beyond the initial launch.
